Description

This course covers the basics of Western music theory, including rhythmic and melodic notation. Learn about the building blocks of music, how songs are put together, and how to read music on a page.

CEU Credits

Enrolled users will earn 0.1 continuing education units (CEUs) upon completing the course.

Objectives

  1. Learners will be able to interpret rhythmic patterns, including whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes and rests in 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 meter signatures
  2. Learners will be able to recognize and identify the pitches on the treble and bass staves, including ledger lines

Prerequisite Skills

The ability to manage time and work independently on a course, the ability to read content at an eighth grade-level in a digital format (or accessibility tools to assist, like screenreader software).

Course Grading Policy

In order to receive CEU credit for this course, you must earn a score of 80% or higher on any quizzes.
